Buddies left to rue another poor show in front of goal
ST MIRREN boss Gus MacPherson remains confident that his side will soon hit the goal trail.
A goalless draw against Motherwell at home last night took the Buddies four points clear of bottom side Falkirk. However, it was a familiar tale of missed chances for the Paisley side who have now gone 10 Clydesdale Bank Premier League games without a win.
"I am disappointed that we didn't capitalise on the chances we had," he said. "Motherwell are the form team at the moment and we created three or four good chances against them. But the hardest part of the game is turning opportunities in to goals."
Motherwell manager Craig Brown watched his side extend their unbeaten run in the SPL to 11 games but blamed himself for the poor performance. The visitors barely created a chance and the former Scotland boss put it down to using the 3-5-2 tactics he employed with the national team.
Brown, who took Scotland to the 1998 World Cup in France, said: "I think least said, soonest mended. Sometimes when you get a point like that you are a bit embarrassed. But I take responsibility for that. I asked the players to play a shape with which they are not familiar and it wasn't to match up to St Mirren. I thought we had the players to play 3-5-2 which I played a lot with Scotland and which had been very successful."
