Buchanan urges Accies to buy wisely
DAVID BUCHANAN has backed Hamilton for a swift return to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League - if they invest in experience.
The defender played his last game for the club yesterday as relegated Accies suffered a 2-1 defeat to Inverness in the final game of the season.
Buchanan is one of nine first-team players to depart now that the club is preparing for life in the Irn-Bru First Division next term.
He said: "Everyone knows that this football club is trying to go with youth.
"They have got a good record of bringing players through and selling them on. But they need to bring experienced players in.
"They've got players here for next year that are more than capable of playing in the Premier League so they should handle themselves in the First Division."
Hamilton's fate was sealed when they lost to St Johnstone in midweek and Buchanan admits they cannot argue with their lowly status in the SPL this season.
He added: "We can say what we want, we can say we weren't the worst team in the league and we did play some nice stuff. But, over the season, the league tells the truth."
