Brewster looks to avenge cup exit
INVERNESS manager Craig Brewster will use the recent Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-final defeat to Falkirk to fire up his players for tonight's Clydesdale Bank Premier League match against John Hughes' side.
The Highlanders were left feeling a great sense of injustice after missing out on a place in the last four of the League Cup last month when Neil McCann scored the only goal of the game from what looked an offside position.
Brewster, whose side were also denied a penalty when Adam Rooney went down in the box, admitted he would be reminding his players of that defeat before kick-off at the Caledonian Stadium.
He said: "You use anything you can to motivate the players. We will certainly be reminding them of how well they played that night.
"We've played well against Falkirk twice this season. We have won one (in the league) and we were very unfortunate second time around in the cup, losing to an offside goal and a penalty decision we never got.
"That was a disappointing night but it is in the past and now we have to use home advantage, which is something we have not done well enough so far this season."
Inverness continued their impressive away form with a surprise win at Hibernian on Saturday. But they have struggled to replicate their results on the road at home, winning only one win from six at the Caledonian Stadium.
Brewster admitted: "We have not had good results at home, although the per-formances have been reasonably good. We just haven't managed to find that winning formula too often and we need to change that."
Falkirk Captain Darren Barr meanwhile is hoping they can find the consistency needed to climb the SPL League in the coming weeks.
Hughes' side have only been beaten twice in their past ten outings but have not been able to compile a string of wins to move up the table.
Barr, celebrating another Scotland call-up for next week's friendly with Argentina, admits he and his team-mates need to play regularly to the top of their form if they are to improve their league standing from tenth place.
He said: "We've drawn a few games recently but we do feel we're getting there. We just need a bit of consistency at a good level. Hopefully we can start moving up the table."
