Brechin City 3- 0 Peterhead: McAllister brace helps City tighten grip on fourth place
BRECHIN tightened their grip on fourth spot in the table with an emphatic 3-0 win over Peterhead at Glebe Park.
Brechin were on top from the start and went close to scoring in 19 minutes. Willie Dyer played to Rory McAllister and his angled drive came back off the inside of the post.
They attacked again and, in 25 minutes, a Mark Docherty header from a Bobby Barr cross forced a great save for Paul Jarvie.
Two minutes later, striker Charlie King saw his close-range effort saved by Jarvie and then somehow managed to put the rebound wide.
Brechin opened the scoring in 31 minutes when Docherty headed the ball down for central defender Paul McLean to volley home.
The home side remained on top at the start of the second half and stretched their lead in 50 minutes when McAllister went on a surging run past two defenders and smashed the ball home.
Peterhead threatened briefly and home goalkeeper Craig Nelson was forced into a brilliant save from Dougie Cameron.
Brechin, though, wrapped things up in 73 minutes when Barr sent in a cross and McAllister stooped to head home on the back post for his second of the match.
