FORMER Rangers duo Craig Moore and Kevin Muscat and ex-Hibs and Dundee United midfielder Grant Brebner have been punished by Australia's football authorities for betting offences.
Brebner, who recently signed a new deal with Melbourne Victory, has been hit hardest after it was revealed he had bet on his own side to lose in an Asian Champions League match earlier this year.
Victory were beaten 3-1 by Thai side Chonburi, although Brebner – who won $544.21 – was not part of the squad and did not travel to Bangkok for the game. Brebner has been fined $5,000 and banned for four matches.
Moore placed two bets and won a total of $72 on the outcome of two matches not involving his own Queensland Roar, whilst Muscat lost $100 on the outcome of a game not involving his own Melbourne Victory side. Moore and Muscat have both been fined $5,000.
