Boyd content if other Rangers score goals

RANGERS striker Kris Boyd insists personal glory is unimportant during Saturday's Homecoming Scottish Cup final against Falkirk.

Boyd netted four goals in two Hampden finals last term to help Rangers to victory over Dundee United and Queen of the South. The 25-year-old was still trying to prove he was worth a regular starting place last season.

But he has been Walter Smith's main striker this season, and responded with 31 goals, including the final strike of their triumphant Clydesdale Bank Premier League season during the 3-0 win at United on Sunday.

Boyd has recently admitted to being more relaxed about not scoring after Smith praised improvements in his all-round game. And the former Kilmarnock striker will not concern himself with who gets on the scoresheet against the Bairns as long as Rangers clinch the double.

He said: "Both finals were great for me last year and I'd take a similar sort of day to the two we enjoyed back then. But the most important thing is that the team goes out there and gets the victory it needs to retain the trophy. I'm not bothered who scores the goals as long as we end up with a trophy and a double in our hands."

Boyd expects a tough game against the Bairns. "Against the likes of Inverness, St Mirren and Falkirk we've always had hard games and this will be no different," he said.
