Boxing: Simmons is in a fine state
LEITH VICTORIA'S Scottish heavyweight champion Steve Simmons admitted today that he currently has a delicious dilemma – whether to go on a three-state American boxing tour with the British squad next month or box at Tampere tournament in Finland.
Confirmed Simmons: "I've been offered the choice of boxing for a British team in Ohio, New York and California in October or to box in Finland but I really fancy the three-state American tour option as I think fighting top American heavyweights would be a great learning experience for me."
Meanwhile, Gilmerton's British youth lightweight champion, Connor McCallum, will have his first ring tussle this season at Peebles Working Men's Club in two weeks time against a leading west of Scotland rival.
