Boxing: Josh Taylor wants fourth gold

LOCHEND'S international lightweight boxer Josh Taylor is aiming to win his fourth gold medal on the trot and third consecutive "Best Boxer" award when he competes for Scotland B against England B in London, writes BRIAN DONALD.

Taylor won his third consecutive gold medal and "Best Ring Technician" of the tournament award in the Macedonian capital, Skopje, last weekend, beating a really tough Bulgarian by 6-2 then grabbing gold by outscoring the Italian finalist 8-2.

Taylor said: "Winning the best ring technician award was a real bonus, particularly when you consider that the Scottish team won Best Team and Best Coach awards too – the first time any Scottish team had ever scooped all these awards in the same international tournament.

"I've set myself the target of winning Gold and Best Boxer award at London against England B next week and I am also treating the show in London as an excellent warm up for the forthcoming Scottish Eastern District championships."
