Boxing: Grave news as 'Bodysnatcher' pulls out of Arthur bout
EDINBURGH boxer Alex Arthur was today dealt a blow after his planned opponent pulled out of a bout on Saturday.
Arthur was set to face Stoke-based Gary "The Bodysnatcher" Reid at Braehead Arena on the undercard of Ricky Burns' WBO super-featherweight title defence against Andreas Evensen.
Arthur's management team now have four days to find a suitable replacement for the Capital ring ace.
Said Arthur: "Of course, I'm disappointed.
"I had studied Reid's style on DVD then had two Lochend club amateurs, David Dickson and Steve Tiffany, cleverly reproduce Reid's style and ring moves and accordingly had a prepared strategy for Reid.
"Now I obviously won't have the same time to prepare for whatever substitute opponent I have to face.
"But the upside is that I have every bit of confidence in my management team matchmaker to ensure that I do fight someone on Saturday.
"My dad has sold quite a few tickets to my travelling support and they can rest assured that I aim to put on a show for them at Braehead whoever I fight on Saturday."
