Boxing: Wembley venue for Anderson-Groves bout

WEMBLEY Arena has been confirmed as the venue for Edinburgh’s Kenny Anderson British super-middleweight title challenge against London’s George Groves on Friday, March 16.

And champion Groves believes he’ll have the edge on Anderson and that he will win in a far easier fashion than when the last time the pair clashed at Manchester in November 2011, when Groves had to climb off the canvas to stop Anderson inside the distance in round six.

Groves said: “I’m really going to relish the return clash with Anderson and this time around and I’ll do a much better job on him. Since I last beat Anderson I’ve faced a much higher calibre of opponent than he has and picked up much more experience against the likes of James DeGale and Paul Smith.

“It will be far more one-sided his time. Anderson’s a strong man but I won’t let him get in the fight at all. It will be one way traffic.”

Meanwhile, Wembley show promoter Frank Warren added: “Anderson complained that he didn’t get enough notice to prepare the first time but he’s got plenty this time.

“The first fight was exciting and I’m sure the rematch will live up to all expectations.”
