In the match played over two hours, Jenkins led for almost 90 minutes before Knowles made an excellent break of 50 to open up a lead for the first time. He stayed ahead until there was only a few minutes of play remaining when Jenkins regained the lead. However, Knowles was to get one more chance but after reducing the deficit to only one point and on the verge of potting a final red for victory, the time ran out and therefore handed the title to Jenkins in dramatic circumstances.
