Boxing: Taylor is raring to go for opening bout

Olympic boxer Josh Taylor will face Brazilian Robson
Conceicao tomorrow evening in the first round of the lightweight 60kg event.

Should Taylor manage to overcome the 23-year-old South American, the Lochend star will then face a duel with Italian Domenico Valentino, 28, in the second round on Thursday.

Taylor’s coach Terry McCormack admits the draw could have been more generous but remains optimistic the talented youngster can emerge
victorious.

“I am confident Josh will win.” McCormack said. “The draw could have been kinder but you can’t do anything about that. He has to face who is put in front of him. Josh is capable of beating anyone on his day so I’m sure he will be fine tomorrow. He’s settled well in London and just can’t wait to get going. He’s wasn’t even at the opening ceremony last night as he didn’t want to be up late and just wants to remain focused.”
