Boxing: White aims to lay down Law
LEITH Victoria's sole representative at tonight's Scottish Youth boxing championships in Coatbridge, lightweight Sean White, will be motivated by revenge against Kelty's Connor Law.
Leith Vics club official Douglas Fraser said: "Sean was out-pointed by Law in the district finals so he is keen to beat him this time around."
Queensferry light-welterweight Chris McHale has the incentive of a possible Scotland call-up when he takes on Clydebank's Martin Harkins.
Queensferry coach Mark Geraghty said: "A win would catapult Chris into contention for a place in the Scottish squad for the World Youth Championships in Azerbaijan in April.
McHale lost to Harkins at a previous event in Glasgow and Geraghty added: "We thought Harkins was dead lucky to get a disputed points decision so that's another thing firing Chris up."
Another Queensferry boxer with a hard bout in prospect is lightweight Sean Spence, who faces 50-fight veteran Martin McCord from Ayrshire's Doon Valley club
But Geraghty said: "Sean really believes he can cause an upset against hot favourite McCord."
The Lochend club's hopes of title glory rest with featherweight Kevin Skey, who fights Fifer Tom Brunton of the Denbeath club.
• QUEENSFERRY'S Polish heavyweight Jacki Kubas has successfully undergone an operation for the broken jaw he suffered in his Scottish senior championship semi-final against Lochee's David Drummond.
