Boxing: Queensferry find Repton hard to crack
London's mighty Repton club outclassed a Queensferry club based Scottish select in a challenge at Edinburgh's Corn Exchange.
The Bethnal Green outfit won 6-1 on the night but one Queensferry boxer, light-flyweight Matt McHale did well against Repton's Chris Bradley with his counter-punching style, only to lose a controversial split points verdict.
On the other hand, Queensferry's Lee Spence could have no complaints about losing to the Bethnal Green outfit's Moscow-born guest Jerzy Arytom.
However, Spence's middleweight brother Owen looked unlucky to lose his tussle with English Northwestern champion Dean Laughlin, from Whitehaven, who was guesting for Repton.
Spence caught Laughlin with four-punch head and body sequences several times in the first two rounds but the judges, nevertheless, saw the English boxer as the winner.
The Queensferry team's sole winner was guest boxer from Renfrew, Stewart Burt, who won his middleweight clash on points with Whitehaven's Ethan Snowcroft - who was also guesting.
