Boxing: Murray and Blackie lead line for Scots select

RISING boxing stars, light-flyweight Joe Murray from Craigmillar and South Queensferry's Stuart Blackie will spearhead a Scottish club select who will clash at Kinghorn tomorrow with a squad from Jimmy Egan's Boxing Academy club, writes BRIAN DONALD.

One of the organisers of the sold-out event at Pettycur Bay against the rivals from Manchester is Craigmillar's Stewart Anderson and he commented: "Young Joe Murray will get a chance to show just why we are excited about his future ring prospects and Stuart Blackie is now a seasoned boxing internationalist too and we are confident that he will do well.

"We are also featuring bantamweight Dylan Moffat, who is eager to prove that his stoppage last month to an English boxer was a one-off and Dylan's Midlothian clubmate middleweight Scott Grant is also fired up.''

The top-of-the-bill bout features Scottish senior middleweight champion Darren Reid against English senior ABA middleweight champion Ed Burton.
