Boxing: Bottle attack on Easton

EDINBURGH amateur boxer Jason Easton had 36 stitches put into a head wound after being attacked with a bottle following an international competition in eastern Germany.

The Craigmillar club light-welterweight had been competing for Scotland at the Brandenburg tournament in Frankfurt Oder.

He has been summoned to appear before Amateur Boxing Scotland's chief operating officer, Richard Thomas, with Craigmillar club leader, Stewart Anderson, at sportscotland's Edinburgh offices at lunchtime on Monday, 13 July to answer questions regarding the attack.

Easton's wound stretches from his left ear to the top of his head.

A spokesman for the Craigmillar club said: "At first we were worried that the injury might stop Jason from boxing again but thankfully that has turned out not to be the case."

Easton is one of Scotland's brightest 64kgs class boxers.
