Boxing: Anderson will begin his McGuigan era at the seaside

EDINBURGH'S Celtic super-middleweight champion Kenny Anderson will make his long awaited ring comeback on 29 November at Cleethorpes against a selected opponent.

Anderson's new ring advisor, former WBA featherweight champion Barry McGuigan, confirmed: "I'm hugely excited to be involved now in Kenny Anderson's ring career as I think that he can go all the way to the top in world boxing terms.

"Anderson has been training and sparring under coach Kevin Marra at Preston and not only has Kenny impressed Kevin Marra but he is fit and raring to go. However, before he tackles his British title eliminator opponent Paul David in Glasgow in January, Anderson needs to get rid of ring rust. Paul David is a typical Brendan Ingle trained hit and run type guy who will prove awkward to Anderson in the early rounds but I'm confident Kenny will beat him."

Meanwhile, Anderson who now lives and trains in Preston, Lancashire Monday to Friday, added: "I am really excited about my association with Barry McGuigan.

My new coach knows how to fire me up and my big aim is to make up for all the lost career time I've had.''

&#149 THE organisers of the fans' evening with former world light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton at Murrayfield Stadium next month have cut the prices of admission from 110 for individuals to 95 per person and corporate tables for ten have been reduced to 950 from 1,100 per table.
