Evicted gran's sad return

A GRANDMOTHER evicted from her home to make way for a Commonwealth Games development in Glasgow yesterday went to collect belongings removed from her house - and returned with a simple cardboard box.

Family possessions were dumped in the street by workmen assigned to clear Margaret Jaconelli and her husband, Jack, from their home in Ardenlea Street, Dalmarnock.

The dawn raid on Thursday involved more 100 police, nine sheriff officers, council tradesmen, a fire crew and a team of paramedics.

They were acting on a compulsory purchase order obtained by Glasgow City Council.
