Boroughmuir 29 - 18 Stewart's Melville

BOROUGHMUIR, inspired by pro Dave Callam, bagged a crucial win over battling StewMel with a late flurry at Meggetland yesterday.

The afternoon started well for the hosts with a try by Rob Cairns after two minutes. The visitors responded with a Phil Hendry try and moved ahead after 20 minutes when the ball was spun wide to Harry Boisseau who crashed through two tackles for a score which Stuart Ker converted.

Graham Blackhall cut the deficit to four points at the break with a penalty but Ker cancelled that out with a kick that was all the visitors had to show for a spell on top. The hosts levelled when Callam marked his return from injury with a try, converted by Blackhall. And, although Ker edged StewMel back into the lead with a penalty, Ed Mills grabbed a late converted double to snatch the win and secure a bonus point.
