Boro holiday for Livingston's Andrew Halliday
LIVINGSTON top scorer Andrew Halliday has been down to Middlesbrough FC to tour the club and its training academy.
Halliday, 19, has scored 12 goals this term and been watched by scouts from all over the UK, including from the likes of West Ham, Newcastle, the Old Firm, Hibs and Hearts
Reports suggest Boro manager Gordon Strachan wants to take Halliday on loan until the end of the season for 50,000 with a view to a permanent deal – speculation discounted by Livi manager Gary Bollan.
However, Livi chief executive Ged Nixon said: "Andy did visit Middlesbrough recently to have a look around but it wasn't a trial as some people believe.
"There has been contact with a number of other clubs but the door is not closed on Andy staying with us and signing a new contract."
Bollan is preparing his team for tomorrow's trip to Elgin City. They are seven points clear at the top of the Third Division following Tuesday night's 2-0 win over title rivals East Stirlingshire, in which Halliday opened the scoring.
Bollan said: "We have a wee gap at the top and are in a good position. We know if we look after ourselves that's all we need."
