Big and the bad beat Wolves

THE Edinburgh Wolves gridiron team was a victim of big plays and bad weather in their 25-6 loss yesterday at the home of league leaders Lancashire Wolverines.

Edinburgh running back Paul Elder ran for over 100 yards and the Wolves defence made three goal-line stands during the rain-soaked, turnover-filled game, but were unable to stop the Blackburn side from capitalising on their mistakes.

Wolves coach Don Edmonston said: "We made some fundamental mistakes on a couple of plays and Lancashire took advantage of those breakdowns.

"On the positive side, a lot of rookies got game experience this week, and we have two weeks to prepare for our next game, at home against Chester."
