Beckham: 'I want to quit US for Milan'
DAVID Beckham last night broke his silence on his future and revealed he wants to finish his career with AC Milan.
The midfielder was speaking after playing the first-half of a 2-2 draw against Rangers – his latest appearance in what was originally meant to be a three-month loan period with the Serie A side from LA Galaxy. But Beckham has now instructed his lawyers to begin preparing the way for a permanent move to Milan from the States.
"I have made both clubs aware that my intention is to stay here, and now it is out of my hands," said the former England captain. "I respect the Galaxy but I have expressed a desire to stay in Milan and I hope the clubs can come to an agreement."
Rangers manager Walter Smith urged his players to use the experience of last night's draw with Milan as an incentive to bring elite European football back to Ibrox on a regular basis. "When we have a game like this one, it makes you hungry for more of that kind of football," said Smith. "It was a good exercise."
