BBC screen Scots' ODI with Aussies

SCOTLAND'S showpiece game this coming season, against the touring Australians in Edinburgh in August, will be shown live by BBC Scotland.

The one-day international, at Citylets Grange on 28 August, will be screened on BBC 2 and broadcast on Radio Scotland. Test Match Special anchorman Jonathan Agnew will be among the commentary team who will bring in-depth coverage of Scottish cricket's main event this season. Full details of the line-up of commentators and analysts will be announced later.

While the Australians have played second best to South Africa in recent weeks, the tourists, who are likely to be led by Ricky Ponting, will still be a huge attraction, with the fixture coming only four days after the final Ashes Test. Cricket Scotland chief executive Roddy Smith said: "It is fantastic news that BBC Scotland are to show this year's big match against the world champions live.

"It is sure to be a great occasion and one not to be missed either in person or on TV."

The Scotland side, just returned from a disappointing time in the World Cup qualifying event in South Africa, are back in action on Sunday when they take on Middlesex at Lord's in their opening game of the FP Trophy. The squad, likely to be announced today, will show a few changes, through injury and unavailability.
