Basketball: Students out to cause upset

Edinburgh UNIVERSITY bid to reach the last eight of the women’s Scottish Volleyball Cup tomorrow, but the non-league side could hardly have been handed a more difficult task.

The students, who have
already beaten second division Glasgow International and Dundee in the competition, travel to face North Lanarkshire. Their opponents are currently enjoying their best-ever season in the Schelde Sports Scottish League, sitting second in Division One. Holders City of Edinburgh have a difficult away tie at Su Ragazzi, with just four points between the teams in the league table. NUVOC host
non-league North Grampian.

In the fourth round of the men’s cup, holders City of Edinburgh are strong favourites to reach the last eight when they visit South Ayrshire. The tie of the round sees Edinburgh Jets face Bon Accord at Linlithgow Academy.
