Baird, last Dons cup hero of 1947, dies
ARCHIE Baird, the last surviving member of Aberdeen's legendary 1947 Scottish Cup-winning team, has died at the age of 90.
Inside-right Baird was part of the first Aberdeen team to lift the Scottish Cup when they beat Hibernian 2-1 and went on to become a club legend, making 104 league appearances.
Baird passed away on Tuesday after an incredible career that saw him escape from a Second World War prisoner of war camp, take up journalism, before ending his working life as a teacher.
