Ayr 27 West of Scotland 0: Ayr master conditions
THE conditions at Millbrae can be gauged by the fact that the 2nd XV match on the adjacent pitch was called off but these sides served up a tasty contest.
As current league leaders, Ayr are there to be shot at and West spurned a kickable penalty to take a scrum after only three minutes. Ayr turned the scrum, gained the put-in and set down a clear marker.
AJ McFarlane was first to breach the West goalline, running in his own quick tap. Frazier Climo converted and Ayr took a 12-0 lead into half-time following Richard McCallum's touch down from a ferocious drive.
With the wind behind them, Ayr dominated the second period and Andy Wilson and Climo each scored.
