Athletics: Yet another best for Child
PITREAVIE'S Eilidh Child improved her best for the fourth time this season and secured the UK A qualifying standard for the World Championships in Berlin in August when she finished a brilliant second in 55.46 secs in the 400 metres hurdles at the Josef Odlozil Memorial Meeting in Prague last night.
That was an improvement of 0.06 seconds on her recent winning time in the Inter-Counties Championships in Bedford and more than one-and-a-half seconds better than her best at the start of the season.
"She ran a perfect race and beat two Beijing Olympic finalists," said her coach Stuart Hogg.
Capital high hurdler Allan Scott was fourth in the 110 metres event at the same meeting in a season's best of 13.86 secs and will now race in Greece tomorrow.
