Athletics: Murray picked in GB team

FREYA MURRAY (Edinburgh AC) has been named in the British team for the European Cross Country Championships in Dublin a week on Sunday after finishing second to former European champion Hayley Yelling in the official trial in Liverpool last weekend.

Murray is one of seven Scots in the team.

Also named are Andrew Lemoncello (Fife AC) and Steph Twell (Aldershot) despite the fact they missed the trials. Laura Kenney (Royal Mid Sutton), who was fifth in the women's trial, juniors Callum Hawkins (Kilbarchan) and Matthew Gillespie (Shettleston) and junior woman Beth Potter (Glasgow).

English-born Twell declared for Scotland only last month and will be one of the favourites for the women's under-23 title.
