Edinburgh in drop zone

Edinburgh AC face an uphill struggle to avoid relegation from the Premier Division of the UK Women’s League after finishing eighth and last in the first of the three matches at Birmingham.

Their only winners were the ever-faithful Kathryn Evans in the 800 metres (2:10.54) and new recruit this season Julia Siart in the B hammer (54.43).

Long-serving team manager Ann Scott had to endure wholesale call-offs as athletes headed for other meetings in search of qualifying performances.

With two matches left, at Eton on June 30 and Swansea on July 28, EAC face the very real prospect of a drop down to the first division.
