Dick backs Child to lead medal drive
ATHLETICS: New Scottish Athletics chairman Frank Dick believes Eilidh Child can lead the way to a new generation of medal prospects after the Perth-based 400 metres hurdler picked up the Puma Athlete of the Year at the sport's annual awards ceremony in Glasgow.
The 23-year-old made vast strides during 2009, including personal bests, a European team bronze for Great Britain and a world championships debut where she made the semi-finals. Child's mentor, Stuart Hogg, was recognised with the Coach of the Year prize.
"If we can focus our resources properly, get people working together and motivated, there's no reason why we can't get medals in Scotland," said Dick.
