Central tackle cream of European clubs

ATHLETICS: Senior Men at Central Athletic Club are preparing for one of the biggest races of their lives as they head for the European Club Cross Country championships in Spain tomorrow.

The Scottish CC champions will fly the flag for Great Britain after winning the trial against English and Welsh opposition in Liverpool in November. Now Central are determined to deliver their best possible performance at Castellon, near Valencia, against the cream of continental clubs, with the opposition sure to include full-time athletes. It will be a special day for endurance coach Derek Easton and the six men selected to wear the Central vests in a race in which four will count: Alex Hendry, Scott McDonald, Lewis Millar, Andrew Butchart, Alistair Hay and Robert Russell.
