Athletics: City trio set out for AAA titles

Edinburgh AC youngsters Josh Kerr, Ben Robbins and Morro Bajo depart tomorrow for the AAA Under-15 and Under-17 Championships in Bedford with strong hopes of medals and even titles.

Kerr, called in at the last moment into the Future Stars team, won the older under-16 1500 metres in 4:05.26 at the Celtic International in Aberdeen last Sunday which puts him top of the season’s UK lists for the under-15 age group.

Robbins (49.67) has already proved his mettle by reaching the Scottish senior final, was second in Aberdeen and a close third in the British Schools International Under-15 400 metres in Ashford, Kent last month.

Bajo has proved since his return from the Gambia that he is capable of matching even the best senior 100m and 200m sprinters and his startling double at the National Junior League in Wakefield last month of 10.76 and 21.77 has put him third and second on the Scottish senior rankings for the season.

He should be capable of winning the under-17 titles in Bedford.
