Athletics: Chris’ big time in Big Apple

Chris O’HARE (Tulsa University) produced an amazing performance to smash the Scottish indoor mile record by well over two seconds at the Millrose Games in New York on Saturday.

The 22-year-old EAC star clocked 3:52.98 in fourth place in the race after boldly pushing the pace with 300 metres to go.

He also claimed the NCAA (American colleges) indoor record and becomes the second fastest British miler indoors behind Yorkshire’s Peter Elliott.

The winner was Lopez
Lomong (Oregon) in 3:51.21
