Athletics: Edinburgh AC fare relay well in EoS event
EDINBURGH AC scored a Capital one-two in both young athletes' races in the East of Scotland Cross Country Relays at Prestonpans on Saturday.
Despite being without several sickly teammates, including Marcus Cram, EAC young men's A team of brothers Josh (9:21) and Jake Kerr (9:25) and Jake Wightman (9:12) cruised home in 27:58 seconds, 22sec clear of the B team of Robert Bough (9:46), Ruaridh Miller (9:15) and Peter Loudon (9:19), while Lasswade, helped by the day's fastest time of 8:07 from Ross Matheson, took third in 28:26 at Meadowmill Sports Centre.
Track star Emily Dudgeon (9:49) led EAC young females home in 30:47 with Emily Strathdee (10:49) and Rachael Dunn (10:09) on the opening legs while Hannah Cameron (11:28), Emma Dunnett (10:04) and Louisa Stewart (9:56) took the B team to silver in 31:28.
Central again dominated the senior races with Fiona Thompson overtaking Jennifer MacLean (EAC) on the third and final leg for victory, while Central repeated their men's one-two of last year with Ross Houston overtaking Owen Bristow (EAC) on the fourth and last lap for silver after Sean Reilly had cruised home for the A team.
