Arthur not interested in Foster fight

WBO Super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur says a public challenge by his former title challenger from Salford, Steve Foster, is pointless.

Foster's bid was made via Arthur's promotional spokesman, Richard Maynard.

Maynard confirmed Foster, who knocked Arthur down in the 11th round at Meadowbank last December before losing on points, will box on the same bill in Manchester on September 6 when Arthur defends his WBO crown against Nicky Cook.

Foster fights Femi Fehnitola for the English super-featherweight title but Foster wants a rematch with Arthur.

Arthur totally dismissed the idea. "I am simply not interested in fighting Foster again for my WBO title," he said. "He got lucky in round 11 at Meadowbank when I got careless. Despite being below par form-wise I still beat Foster.

"I want exciting future challenges after I beat Cook. Boxing Foster again would be pointless."
