Arbroath 0 - 3 Clyde: Sawyers helps lift Clyde off bottom
CLYDE lifted themselves off the bottom of the Division Two table thanks to a determined victory over Arbroath.
A Willie Sawyers double, sandwiched between an Alistair Park strike, gave the visitors the points, with the Lichties' poor home form continuing.
The deadlock was broken in the 27th minute when Park delivered a free-kick into the box, Willie McLachlan played the ball back across goal and Sawyers reacted first to fire the ball off the crossbar and over the line from close range.
Arbroath were out early after the interval, but there was to be no way back in to the game as Clyde pushed home their advantage.
They doubled their lead in the 50th minute when Sawyers' powerful run was brought to an end in the box, the ball spun free to Park who cut inside before rifling his shot in to the top corner.
And the shell-shocked home team fell further behind five minutes later when Gary Muir's header cannoned off the bar following a corner and Sawyers reacted smartly to fire home.
From there, Clyde looked the more likely to add to their tally, and while Arbroath enjoyed possession they were unable find the back of the net – their best chance falling to Bryan Scott whose volley came off the inside of the post.
