Appleby to face Simpson
PAUL Appleby, the undefeated 20-year-old featherweight from South Queensferry, will have the opportunity to show just how good he is capable of becoming when he challenges champion John Simpson for the British crown at the Kelvin Hall on Friday, 6 June.
Appleby, who has a record of 11 straight wins, has made a huge impact on the Scottish fight scene and great things are predicted for the fledgling boxer.
However, one flaw in Appleby's make-up is his habit of dropping his guard when he goes in searching of landing a powerful punch. He has been caught exposed several times, but he insisted: "I will be keeping my hands up this time because I know John is capable of hurting me, unlike my previous opponents."
