Annan Athletic 4 - 2 Elgin City: Annan stun Elgin with four-goal turnaround
ANNAN, trailing Elgin by two goals at the interval, scored four times in the second half to secure their first major cup semi-final place.
Harry Cairney's team are looking forward to an Alba Challenge Cup last-four match against Division 1 opposition, and the manager admitted: "There were a few harsh words at the interval and we asked the lads to go out and show some fighting spirit. They did that and within ten minutes they had scored."
Brian Cameron put Elgin ahead after five minutes from close range, and an own-goal from John MacBeth extended the advantage.
Annan's Bryan Gilfillan smashed the ball low into the net in 55 minutes, and the match was level in the 74th minute when Graeme Bell slotted home. Four minutes later Alan Inglis netted from 25 yards, and two minutes from time Phil Storey rounded the keeper for number four.
