Anderson becoming bored by lack of fights
UNBEATEN Capital super-middleweight boxer Kenny Anderson today admitted he was "bored and frustrated'' at not having a fight lined up this month.
The Commonwealth Games gold medallist is set for a week's sparring at London's TKO gym with Johnny Eames' fight stable but said: "This is my year for a British title eliminator by December and to get that I have to fight regularly but right now not only am I not going to be boxing competitively in January but my management haven't yet been able to confirm February as my next ring appearance date.
"I'm not criticising my manager, Barry Hughes, because, like me, he is in the hands of other promoters but I'm going to tell Barry that I want a spot on the February 2 fight card featuring Amir Khan against Gary St Clair at the London EX-Cel Arena.
"I'd also like to fight on the David Haye v Enzo Macarennelli title fight card too.
"I know that I can make 2008 my big breakthrough year for a British title shot, but only if I actually fight in the ring, not just sparring with big names and talking about it.
"I also want tougher opponents whose defeat by me will accelerate me up the British ratings, so to be honest, I'm ready to adopt a 'have-gloves-will-travel attitude' and take meaningful fights at relatively short notice."
Gilmerton's former Scottish amateur featherweight champion, Jason Hastie, will also accompany Anderson down to London on Friday where the unbeaten pro ill spar with former WBU title contender, Paul Marsh at the TKO gym in East London.
Meanwhile, Midlothian amateur boxing club boss, Colin Richards, has confirmed his club has won the right to stage the annual Eastern District youth championships on Saturday and Sunday January 26/27 in the Danderhall Community Centre.
