Anderson out to make up for lost time
KENNY ANDERSON, the Commonwealth Games light-heavyweight gold medallist from Edinburgh, is determined to make up lost ground starting with his non-title bout against Latvian Jevgenjis Andrejevs at Paisley's Lagoon Leisure Centre this evening.
Anderson, 25, confessed yesterday to a sense of having been neglected by his principal promoters, Sports Network, after just seven fights in 25 months as a professional.
Super-middleweight Anderson gave vent to his frustrations when he met with Frank Warren to air his grievances and emerged from the discussions with an assurance that he will be given the opportunity to be much more active in future.
Anderson said: "I believe I am close to the stage of fighting for the British or Commonwealth title. It looks like I will be out again in November and December and being a bit more active will help me achieve my aim.
"Frank assured me that I am one of his priority fighters. But prior to our meeting, I felt as if I was at the back of the queue and that I was being neglected, to be honest. There were factors outwith Sports Network's control that affected me getting fights and being featured on TV and it's only now that they are back with Sky that the situation has improved."
