American Football: Wolves want the fur to fly
EDINBURGH WOLVES are gearing up for their biggest weekend ever, as they prepare for the first play-off game in their eight-year history.
The city-based American Football side proudly emerged as Scottish Conference Champions by defeating Shropshire Revolution 6-3 in August - the same team that now stands between them and a chance for promotion to Division 1.
But, despite the boost of that previous win, Edinburgh head coach Don Edmonston has warned that Shropshire are a dangerous side.
"We'll be taking nothing for granted," he said. "The Revolution's defence is tough and they made things difficult for us last time. Their offence have done well this season, they've racked up the points in a few games, but fortunately we were able to shut them down."
Wolves General Manager Doug Adamson urged Edinburgh fans to show their support at Meadowbank. "This is a great opportunity to see live American football in Edinburgh," he said. "This could be our last game of the season and with the NFL about to kick off in the US, what better way get ready?"
The game takes place on Sunday at Meadowbank with a 2.30pm kick-off.
