American Football: Wolves play off bid ended

The Edinburgh Wolves American football team's first-ever play-off game ended in a 27-9 defeat to the Shropshire Revolution.

While the Wolves' offence couldn't find the endzone, the defence did manage to put some points on the board.

Defensive back Campbell Lewis opened the scoring when he intercepted Shropshire quarterback Rob McLean and ran 40 yards for a touchdown. Edinburgh forced a number of turnovers but were mostly unable to convert them into points. One notable exception was a thrilling chase which covered the length of the field when a blocked conversion kick was picked up by wide receiver Paul McEwan and returned for two safety points.

Despite the loss, Edinburgh general manager Doug Adamson was still upbeat. He said: "The result wasn't the one we wanted but it was great to finally reach the play-offs."
