Alloa Athletic 2-3 Airdrie United: Watt is the vital spark as Diamonds pull off late comeback
Two goals in the dying minutes saw Airdrie come from behind to dramatically snatch all three points from their visit to Alloa.
Airdrie took the lead in the fifth minute. Ex-Alloa man Andrew Ferguson pounced on a poor clearance and fired home from close range.
Alloa should have been level in 28 minutes. Stuart Noble, another player facing his former side, contrived to shoot over from three yards when presented with an open goal.
After the restart Bryan Prunty came close before the home side got the equaliser they deserved on the hour. Noble managed to atone for his earlier miss after taking advantage of some good work by Jim Lister.
Alloa then felt they should have been awarded a penalty when Prunty was brought down by Scott Gibson, but referee Mr Law stunned the home fans by booking Prunty for diving.
Airdrie goal-scorer Ferguson then saw an effort come back off the post before Lister gave Alloa the lead. The substitute out-jumped the visitor's defence to head home Darren Smith's free-kick.
Just as Alloa looked to have done enough for the win, the game turned on its head. Jamie Stevenson shocked his ex-employers by firing in an 88th-minute equaliser, and from the restart Anthony Watt got on the end of a hopeful punt into the Alloa box to give Airdrie a shock win.
