Aaron heading home after Valencia call

LOAN Ranger Aaron Niguez is cutting short his stay at Ibrox to return to Valencia.

The highly-rated winger, who made only one start and three substitute appearances for Walter Smith side's during the season, still had another year of his deal to run.

However, Niguez has been recalled by manager Unai Emery as the one-time Spanish giants face financial meltdown and will be forced to sell top stars such as David Villa.

That will open the way for the 20-year-old to break into the first team squad. The club's president Vicente Soriano quit last week after failing to put together a financial package to ease the cash problems at the Mestalla outfit.

Valencia have been given glowing reports about Niguez's short stay at Ibrox and sporting director Fernando Gomez said: "We would have liked him to play more games in Scotland, but, overall, we are pleased with his progression.

"It's been a beneficial experience for him, but it's now time for him to come back."

Niguez added: "It has been a difficult season for me at Rangers because you always want to play more games.

"However, it was my first year in Scottish football and I can understand that."
