Aalborg (2) 2 - 2(2) Man City (Man City win on pens) City survive shoot-out to go through
MANCHESTER City snatched a place in the Uefa Cup quarter-finals last night despite a dramatic late collapse in Aalborg.
Protecting a 2-0 lead from the first leg, City were within five minutes of a place in the last eight but the Danes fought back with goals from Luton Shelton and Michael Jakobsen. But goalkeeper Shay Given spared City's blushes by saving from Thomas Augustinussen and Shelton in a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory.
Holders Zenit St Petersburg could not overhaul a 2-0 first-leg deficit, crashing out 2-1 on aggregate to Udinese. Zenit captain Anatoliy Tymoschuk scored the only goal of the game.
Dynamo Kiev emerged victorious in the all-Ukrainian clash with Metalist Kharkiv, an own goal from Andriy Berezovchuk meaning they went through on away goals courtesy of a 3-2 defeat.
Shakhtar Donetsk ensured a second Ukrainian side in the quarters as they completed victory over CSKA Moscow.
Hamburg came from behind to knock Galatasaray out, winning 3-2 at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium, while
Guillaume Hoarau scored an 80th-minute winner as Paris St Germain claimed a 1-0 victory at Braga.
