9am Briefing: Hearts wages crisis could be repeated
HEARTS players could face more wages woes, it has been reported. Players were not paid on Friday as they should have been - the second time a "mix-up" has been made with wages.
UBIG, the parent company of Hearts chief Vladimir Romanov's UKIO Bankas, refused to make assurances the mistake would not be repeated.
Derby draw is 'Hibs destiny'
HIBEE John Rankin has said it was "destiny" Hibs should draw city rivals Hearts in the Scottish Cup.
The capital will see double derbies in the new year, with an SPL clash at Tynecastle on January 3 and the Scottish Cup match the following weekend.
John Rankin said: "As the draw started and with Celtic and Rangers out of the hat, I knew we would be drawn against Hearts.
"Even though there was still St Mirren and Kilmarnock in the hat, I knew there was only going to be one team for us."
Warning over Capital stars
SCOTLAND boss Craig Burley has warned it wont be long until Christophe Berra and Stephen Fletcher are tempted away from the Capital with big money offers.
Jambos star Berra has been linked with Fulham and Wolves, while Hibs striker Fletcher is said to have been scouted by Real Madrid and Manchester City.
And Burley reckons the Edinburgh duo will go all the way to the top.
Levein set for new contract
FORMER Hearts star Craig Levein is to sign a new contract as manager at Dundee United.
The 44-year-old is said to be ready to fulfil late chairman Eddie Thompson's dream and sign a new contract to complete "unfinished business" at Tannadice.
Levein revealed that he is in no hurry to leave Dundee United and believes he has a long-term future at the club.
