Nationalists are losing the independence race. That’s not a value judgment but a clear-eyed reading of the polls.
The gap between No and Yes is 14 per cent, according to the latest poll of polls. At best individual surveys have put Yes behind by a little under 10 points; at worst the chasm is wider than 20. Put simply, something big needs to change for them to win.
The question is, what? And when?
