A STATUE commemorating the achievements of Highlanders cleared from their land has been unveiled in Canada.
The 10ft bronze monument, called Exiles, is the partner to a second statue at Helmsdale in Sutherland and is the first of its kind outside Scotland.

The statue was unveiled by Environment Minister Michael Russell at a ceremony in Winnipeg. More than 300 people turned out for the event, including Lord James Douglas Hamilton, whose ancestors established a community in Winnipeg over 100 years ago.

It is also time that that obscene statue in Golspie was pulled down. It is a blot on the landscape, and an affront to the people of Scotland.

Get rid of the Golspie statue.

So sad to see the Duke of Sutherland complaining about having to tighten his belt. The arrogant bastarrd.
