Gala 65 - 17 Stirling County: Maroons make most of extra man
Gala are becoming specialists at producing winning second-half performances but not even the Netherdale faithful could have predicted the magnitude of the Maroons’ tally after the break, writes Alan Lorimer at Netherdale.
Trailing 11-17 at half time, Gala turned the game round, winning the second half 54-0.
The game was already beyond Stirling when replacement back row Bengy Barsati was sent to the sin-bin. He then shouted at the assistant referee, earning a full red card. The extra man advantage allowed Gala to increase the pace to run in four further tries.
This was a magnificent performance by Gala, ending with a nine-try total that included a hat-trick from wing Craig Robertson. Craig Keddie and Euan Dods each bagged a brace and there was one apiece from Gavin Young and Alan Emonds. Stand-off Lee Millar converted seven of the Gala tries and kicked two penalties.
For Stirling, Steve Swindall and Tim Clarke scored, while Stuart Edwards got two conversions and a penalty.
