VfB Alstatte 0 - 12 Aberdeen: Dons smash amateurs
ABERDEEN demolished German amateurs Alstatte in the first game of their pre-season tour.
Doubles from Scott Vernon, Peter Pawlett and Gavin Rae and strikes from Rory Fallon, Rob Milsom, Joe Shaughnessy, Ryan Jack, Niall McGinn and Mitch Megginson made for an easy afternoon.
Aberdeen took a 10th-minute lead when New Zealand international Fallon netted. The Dons doubled their advantage two minutes later when Jack cracked home a 25-yard effort. Milsom grabbed a goal from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box in the 22nd minute, Pawlett made it 4-0 to the Scots in the 37th and Irish defender Shaughnessy joined in five minutes before half time.
Pawlett pounced before the break to send the Dons six up at the interval. Half-time sub Rae took just four minutes to score.
Vernon netted a brace, one from the penalty spot and Rae completed his own double to put Aberdeen ten up. Former Celtic winger Niall McGinn netted with a late free kick and Megginson scored another penalty for the Dons who included ex-Scotland star Gary Naysmith as a trialist.
